Duplicates: Finding the source

We're sorry that your ibi appears to be duplicating content. We have a few simple steps to help you identify the source of your duplicates and deal with each uniquely.

Let's start by understanding the various ways duplicates can be created

  • Having more than one iOS device that share a common iCloud account backing up to ibi
  • Having more than one storage location contain the same or similar version of the file
  • Having similar photos but slightly vary in how they're captured

How to check where the duplicates are coming from

Most of your content stored on ibi is conveniently organized in folders when they're added. This automatic organization helps you easily understand where some of your duplicates are coming from. In order to check this:

  1. Identify two photos that appear as duplicates in your photo view
  2. Open one the first one by tapping on it
  3. Then tap on the more icon (…) in the bottom right hand corner of the screen
  4. Then tap on 'Info'
    1. This will bring up additional details about that particular photo along with the location of the photo stated under 'Folder name'

Once you'e identified the folder names, a few scenarios are possible at this point. Please follow the links below to find your case and how to verify as well as prevent additional duplicates from being created.

NOTE: Before deleting or removing any content that were previously duplicated we ask that you carefully review to ensure that duplicates from the second source are truly duplicates. We recommend that you consider create a backup of this folder by either exporting to USB or using the desktop app to move the content incase you need to restore anything in the future. Once you delete something off of ibi, it is permanently deleted so please be sure before performing this action.
